I am looking to buy a backpack in the next week for an upcoming trip, I have narrowed it down to the evolution 8 or fastpack 350. Any recomendations between the 2? My gear is as listed below and will be adding a 70-200mm f/4L soon and will be adding a grip on my camera.

The Fastpack 350 is the larger bag and would have no problem holding your gear. I tried the Evo 8 with my 70-200 2.8, it fit but both sides were bulging with lens hood reversed. Since the f4 is roughly an inch shorter, it might fit the Evo 8 although I think it would still be a snug fit. The grip would be no problem for either bag. If you want a Tamrac, you might have a look at the Evo 9 which has no problem holding all my gear but is much larger, slightly bigger than the Fastpack 350.

White.
Being a bag junkie I have both the Fastpack 350 and the Tamrac Evolution 8 and 9.
Both are very comfortable to wear over a long day.
Like Stone said the Evo 8 is a bit tight for the f/ 2.8 with hood reversed and other lenses. For the f/4 L IS it is more ideal. However the new Evolution 9 does hold my 7D gripped with 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II and room for other lenses.
The Evolution top compartment is padded more so than the Fastpack. I can carry my second 7D with a 17-55 attached in the top of the Evolution and a second 7D with 70-200 attached in the lower main compartment. If possible, I would suggest going to a local store that stocks both the Fastpack and Evolution 8 and 9 with your gear and try out each bag and see which is fits your needs.
Since I like to carry two bodies mounted, the Tamrac Evolution 9 is my choice.
It did the job while in Alaska and Vancouver a few weeks ago.

I am looking to buy a backpack in the next week for an upcoming trip, I have narrowed it down to the evolution 8 or fastpack 350.

I have also narrowed down my search to these 2 bags plus the Flipside 400AW. (And we leave on Thursday for Arizona !!)

I am currently using the Fastpack 250 but needed just a little more room for a 2nd Body and another Lens.

I like the Fastback 250 enough to just get the 350, but am dissapointed that this larger bag doesn't have any type of Tripod Attachment or All Weather Cover.

I may also look at the Nature Trekker / Pro Trekkers

** Also, the Fastpack 250 is a little snug for my 1D, does anybody know if that will fit in the Evolution 8 / Flipside 400 / Fastpack 350 ?

Any words of advice....

I too am lookin for a good bag. I need to hold a gripped 5D MKII with a sigma 70-200 f2.8 os with reversed hood and a 7D with a sigma 17-50 f2.8 os with hood reversed. Mainly when I'm out sooting I will have one in the bag untill needed. It will also contain a single 580EXII Flash, sigma 10-20mm, misc accessories, cleaning kit, giottos blower, mem cards, batteries, chargers, manfrotto 055mf3 with rc232 ballhead (doesnt need to attach on but would be nice) would still need room to grow for an additional flash, 24-70mm f2.8, 50 and fish eye... I'm seriously looking at the Evolution 9, Expedition 8 and the Lowpro trekker 400...
