Great choice Karim. I bought mine last night from B&H along with the Markins Q10 head, RRS clamp, and RRS camera L plate for my 7D. Thanks again for everyone's help with my selection.

Lens plate for 70-200mm f2.8 mark II: L84 (held off on this purchase for now)
LINK (external link)

I've been reading this thread with interest, but I don't get this lens plate, specifically described for the 70-200. Why would it not fit several others, such as the 100-400?

It does. Who said it didnt? I have used the L84 Lens Plate on a 70-200 2.8, 100-400L, 100mm macro, 65mm mp-e macro, 400mm 5.6L, and 300mm f/4L. Worked find for all.

Like Ben says, it does. If you type "L84" into the RRS search option, you get at least 10 pages of hits. I have it on my 70-200 2.8 IS, 100-400 IS, 300 f/4 off the top of my head. I can't recall if I'm using it on my 28-300. I know the 300 2.8 IS uses a different one.

No one. However, on the RRS Canon lens plate page, there are 27 lens plates, each with a different lens designation. It seems to me that most should work with several lenses. That was my confusion.

Thanks for the clarification.

Oh yea... I just checked it out and see what you mean. Okay well they might have plates that are a bit longer or shorter for certain lenses, but like I said the L84 is pretty darn universal for most of the L telephoto zooms out there.
