kaitanium, have you heard of any genuine issues across multiple users of Dell PDA's. I know people who have been very happy but one guy said he'd a friend who was a service engineeer with Dell and he had a car boot full of returned/broken PDA's, mainly caused by bad internal build quality causing ribbon cables to come loose, etc. I was about to buy three X50v's but don't want them dying within months!

Although two different things, my previous dell laptop 5100 if anyone's interrested, had so many problems, they finally sent me an inspiron 6000. Now I don't trust anything from Dell.

havent heard of people having any of those problems yet and the x50v has been out since novemember 2004. perhaps they were the old dell axims, they were pretty shabby, espcially the old x5? mine is hitting the 5 month stage with daily usage and its sill as new as ever.

the only dell things i dont trust is their laptops. when desktop parts break, you can fix it but laptops on the other hand require more time and probably $$. after getting an ibm, dells laptop quality isnt even worth my breath anymore.

but yes, x50v = reliable. but hey since dells customer support is top, even if it breaks and goes into a state that is unrepairable maybe they will replace it with a x51v for you? =P of course i cant guarantee it WONT break because you just never know (just like the guy on the forums who had the electrical probs with his 1d mkII, great qaulity camera but why the problems?) but the track record has been good so far.

Special link on our company internal web site for Dell Pocket PC Axim X51v $329.00 so I had to order one:) . Dell gives our company employees special pricing from time to time. I have a feeling this price $329.00 will make it to www.dell.com (external link) (current web price $429.00) before Christmas.

I think Dells knows how to push the features:) and sometimes cheapen:( the packaging while resulting in a good price:confused: . Think they play this game better than anyone:confused:   .

Appreciate all the information and feed back from this link. Bottom line is I can’t refuse the $329.00 price.

Cheers,

Bob - A Swell Guy

they get cheaper than 329 dude. lowest its gone is 305 and yes i bet dell saves alot of money by not using plain ol brown boxes with no frills.i got my x50v for $260 brand new from dell which includes extra year warranty and 2nd battery! but 329 is still a decent price.
