Does anybody has any experience on buying Canon cameras through eBay?
There are some really good deals but I just want to be sure it is safe.

Thanks.

I looked real seriously at buying a G3 through several eBay sellers, but settled on Costco.com because I like their return policy.

The following is NOT an endorsement...but in the course of my looking, I ran across cametaauctions (Cameta Camera) out of NY who seems to have an extremely good feedback rating and reasonable shipping charges. They say they are an authorized Canon USA Dealer. One of their current items is:

As was on a different thread, eforcity has some great battery deals (generic). One of their current ones is TWO BP-511 batteries with shipping at Buy-it-now for just under $30.

Finally (and this IS an endorsement) I have ordered from hobbymonster and been very pleased with the quick shipping.

He doesn't have any G3s up right now, but does have accessories at very good prices.

Out of almost 5000 unique feedback responses, he has only 3 complaints!!

Enjoy the agonizing...

I got my G3 from a Cameta auction and it was a good experience.

I did NOT buy my G3 on eBay but rather found a reputable dealer through Cnet.com. My main reason was that the eBay sellers kept putting together "kits" and none of them had the exact items that I wanted. Too many things that I didn't want or not enough of them. Keep doing your research & hang in there! Good luck,
Melissa

If you don't want to use eBay, I have a G3 for sale. Its in perfect shape. All the original packaging and warranty cards. $500 if you're interested and I'll cover shipping in US.

I bought my G3 on ebay for $670. It was brand new, and came with a free camera bag, ditigal wide angle macro lens, 52mm lens converter, UV filter, mini tripod and 64mb CF card.
I guess I was lucky maybe.

I bought mine through a dealer found on pricescan.com

Took 7 weeks instead of 3-4 as they said, but I paid $450 (!!!), and the camera was brand new, original, untouched box, and they compensated me for the delay. If you're patient, you can get an awesome deal...

Good luck - you're going to LOVE it...

Tal

PS: Always buy accessories from a diferent dealer, ebay is a good accessories site. Accessories are usually overpriced in dealers where the camera is cheap.
