Thought I'd post these, I think my first efforts in this section of POTN. These were taken today in wet and overcast conditions. (Sebastien Loeb rolled his Citroen early in the day, unfortunately).

shouldn't the wing be mounted higher up on the countryman?

The s2000 Mini had a higher wing placement. The WRC machine is a bit lower.

Cool shots. #1 for me!

Thanks for the comments. I'm not much of a petrol head, but I did enjoy the day immensely, despite the rain! I must also say, I'm a huge fan of the 5Dii, but a faster focussing 7D or 1 series would have been nice for the day.

True.

Just had a squiz at your website Chris. You have some nice images there. Very enjoyable, especially the airborne shots.

Last Saturday was fairly miserable as far as the weather goes, plus there weren't that many good places to view the action. Unfortunately, the authorities control the race viewing so tightly that you can't move to better vantage points. I'm not sure if it's like this in every WRC event around the world, but there was a massive police/security presence here in Coffs, for what seemed like very few patrons.

Anyway, a good day was still had, and the machines/drivers are incredible.

What is with this country and stories like that?? I heard on the local news on the friday that police were out in force for those who wanted to take the race track to the streets of coffs! Give me a break! Until I hear otherwise for next years race, they can have it.

No wonder people don't want to go. Look at Europe where people line the track at races like these, at least they get treated like adults over there, not a bunch of sheep.

Sorry for the rant, but it just irks me bad, you hear this stuff more and more.

Glad you like it,was the brainchild of our own Rhodri Lewis ,and I contribute with Ben Gilbert, the fishing one is my own one though.

They are a bit more relaxed over here and we move a lot,and there are serious amounts of spectators and marshalls.

Anyway, a good day was still had, and the machines/drivers are incredible.

You are dead right there.

Cheers,
Chris

At one stage, a few people must have been walking near the road, and a battery of four (yep, four) police on motorcycles went racing off to avert a "disaster". The race was held up for about 15 minutes. The funny thing was, as the people disappeared into the scrub, the police motorcyclists were still on the road when the next car came racing down the straight, prompting race officials to politely ask the policemen to "get awrf the road"...:)

This is pretty typical for the nanny state of Australia. (Excuse me while I fax off a government application to sneeze...). :)
