Hi, does anyone have an idea if the 504HD head can be fitted into the 055CXPRO tripod? Any adapters or modifications needed? I'm trying to avoid spending on another tripod if I get this head. Thanks

No, only the 701/501/503HDV heads fit the tripod if you're talking about friction video heads. The 504HD requires a bowl mount and imo, would be too large for your 055CXPRO with the adapter that you need to buy.

The 504HD is a 75mm bowl head. It CAN be used with a flat mount, non-bowl tripod like the 055CXPRO with a high hat like this: LINK (external link). But of course you will then lose the leveling ability that you get with a bowl head. FWIW you wouldnt have the leveling anyway with the lower priced heads.

Yep! I actually own that high hat and head. I bought the high hat to use the head on a slider (or anything else for that matter). Then I use the head on a Gitzo 3541LS with a 75mm bowl adapter to hold the 504HD. Its a decent head and def the cheapest I would recommend going, but Ill probably be selling it soon to upgrade to a Sachtler.

I have both now. The 1541T/Q3T AND 3541LS/Q20 combo now :) best of both worlds!

Ben, I'm assuming that the short bottom shaft at the bottom of the head has to be removed/unscrewed out before fitting to the bowl adapter? Which Sachtler head are you looking at, FSB8?

Yes and yes. You just put the Gitzo 75mm bowl adapter in between the head and its screw rod and then tighten it down. Then you can keep that whold section together and remove it or insert it into the Gitzo 3541LS legs anytime you need it. I swap between that and the Gitzo baseplate with a Markins Q20 head on it depending on what I need the legs for. That way my 3 series does double duty.
