Hi, just curious if anyone on POTN lives in Peru. I am moving there in 2 months, and will live there for around a year +/- and was just looking to touch base with someone and pick there mind. Curious about reliable photo shops if I have to pick something, etc. Thanks in advance if someone is out there

No hits after the weekend............a quick Bump, and then I'll assume no one on POTN currently lives or never lived in Peru

Why are you going to Peru?

It is not work related at all, it is for personell reasons, my wife was born there & moved to the USA about 10 years ago. She has things to take care of there, and she is assuming it will take a year. I however am thinking it will be longer, and am trying to prepare that way before hand. I have been there about 6 times, all for short stints of 2 weeks here & there...........except for the time my gear was stolen, along with my Passport! and I couldn't get on a plane to leave the country, so got stuck there for a month.

Stay away from the Pisco.. It is foul, nasty stuff!

Some Chilean family members moved to Puru, years ago, when Chile fell into the hands of communists. They left, and went back to Chile, when Allende was overthrown.

Sorry, other than the advise on Pisco, I can't help much.

I went to Peru for vacation/ visiting family two years ago. I went to Lima, Tacna, Moquegua and Arica,Chile.

But, I gotta ask how tall are you? This is actually very important because if you tall like me 6'3 things will be more expensive. Where will you be living?

I will be living in Lima, and plan on visiting Ica & Arequipa while I am there. On my previous trips there I have be to Lima each time, Cusco, Tarapoto & Nasca.

Yea I know everything is expensive there, especially anything having to do with technology (computers, digital cameras, etc.) And yes cloths for ''average'' americans too. I am 5'11'' and my my in-laws think I am a huge!LOL. So you being 6'3'' yea, you must stick out down there. I rememeber being at a mall in Lima, trying on Large shirts (no such thing as XL) and they were so tight on me
