Congrats; that's a good starting kit, get and extra plate and a lens holder for the 70-200. It's better to support the lens on the tripod vs the camera when the 70-200 is attached as there is just too much stress at the mount of the camera fyi.

Thanks, I will be sure to do that if I ever mount the 70-200.

I am really impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of this tripod for the price. I really wasn't expecting it to be so "Solid" I guess. If I do find myself having to lug it around quite often, I believe I will opt for a carbon fiber replacement as this one is heavier than I expected.

The ball-head is so nice, I should have bought one of these a long time ago.

Great advice here guys, wondering if you would make the same recommendations if he budget was increased to say under $500?

Wow really? I thought this was a continuation of the thread - same gear and purpose, but just a slightly larger budget. Since the OP has already gotten it I thought this would save the forum a duplicate thread....
