I really ned to find some of these hidden gems that you have found. I live an hour away, and I've never seen any of these parts of Oak Creek. I may be going this weekend. I'm getting an itch shutter finger... Paul

Not definite yet, but there's a possibility. Unfortunately, I don't have the advantage of proximity that you do. "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son". - Dean Wormer

I'm reticent to even bring this up (because of my newbie-ness and because your level of photography is pretty much what I aspire to achieve) but I'm wondering if the White Balance on the first shot is not too cool? I mention this because in shade I get the same blueish tint and I don't recall it that way in person (or maybe on my monitors)... Thoughts? Cheers, Andrew K Not really. This was shot early in the morning, sometime near 630am give or take. Due to the monsoon clouds, there was very little sun reaching down into the canyon at this particular spot. I looked at warming it a bit, but it just didn't resemble the conditions at the time. The coating on the rocks (desert varnish) gives off that hue due to its chemical composition. irishman wrote in post #13078525 I'm going to have to follow that trail farther than the dried up swimming pool next time. Bring a good pair of water shoes, or a pair of hiking boots that you don't mind trashing...you'll be about shin-deep in the creek at certain points. Wait a minute, Bruce...thought you didn't want anything to do with Sedona? "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son". - Dean Wormer

Anything north of Midgley Bridge is all good. 6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.
