Nice shots as always. I really ned to find some of these hidden gems that you have found. I live an hour away, and I've never seen any of these parts of Oak Creek. I may be going this weekend. I'm getting an itch shutter finger...;-)a Maybe I'll have to do some scouting on the internet before we go... ;-)a

Thanks. I'm going to try and get back in late October to try and catch the fall colors. Not definite yet, but there's a possibility. Unfortunately, I don't have the advantage of proximity that you do. ;)

Great pictures. I will have to look up that trail next time I am in Sedona.

Awesome job on all 3!!

I'm reticent to even bring this up (because of my newbie-ness and because your level of photography is pretty much what I aspire to achieve) but I'm wondering if the White Balance on the first shot is not too cool? I mention this because in shade I get the same blueish tint and I don't recall it that way in person (or maybe on my monitors)...

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Andrew K

I'm going to have to follow that trail farther than the dried up swimming pool next time.

Not really. This was shot early in the morning, sometime near 630am give or take. Due to the monsoon clouds, there was very little sun reaching down into the canyon at this particular spot. I looked at warming it a bit, but it just didn't resemble the conditions at the time. The coating on the rocks (desert varnish) gives off that hue due to its chemical composition.

Bring a good pair of water shoes, or a pair of hiking boots that you don't mind trashing...you'll be about shin-deep in the creek at certain points. Wait a minute, Bruce...thought you didn't want anything to do with Sedona? ;)

Sounds cool...hope tracking the moon works out for you. Just be sure that you account for the difference between magnetic north and true north...

I consider Oak Creek Canyon "Flagdona". Anything north of Midgley Bridge is all good.;)

Thanks Argyle for explaining that all to me. I was 99% sure you didn't "miss it" but I had to ask. :)

Thanks for sharing your great work!

Andrew K
