Yes, it has everything you need. All the extended version has is some obscure 3D stuff that nobody uses :)

Be aware that Photoshop is due for an upgrade in a couple months.

I would not go as far as saying nobody.

@ quadphoto
CS5 does include adobe bridge and ACR. It has everything you need as a photographer and then some.
Maybe as a photographer you won't use the 3D stuff, but I can assure you there are plenty of other people out there who do take advantage of it. You never know, you might want to utilize it within some of your photos if you ever want to add a little artistic touch.
There is a lot more than just the 3D stuff that make up the differences between the two version. For Example, there is also video stuff you can do with CS5ext that you can't in CS5. There are other things that are only available with CS5ext which are nice for a photographer that you can't do with CS5, such as Smart object stack modes!
There are other things as well that can be used by both graphic artists and photographers. As a photographer that is something you would have to consider when you think of the extra cost. How would you be able to put it to good use, and would you use it enough to justify the cost difference?
IMHO, I never hurts to have extra tools in your toolbox.

I use 3D frequently, but not for Photgraphy. It also has some video capabilities.

What CS6 already? I just got CS5 today, but I used the education store so I don't mind if it gets updated.

Yep, Already. On average about every 18 months will be a new version release. CS6 is due anytime now. There are all kinds of rumors floating around for when and what it will have.

Eh, I have a feeling it won't have anything mindblowing.

To the best of my knowledge cs6 is not in prerelease testing yet. Some power users like Deke McClelland may have it but they also widen the net as it gets closer to release date.

With more video enabled cameras I think that we might see more video capabilities in future releases and I hope that improve some of areas of 3D, yes I use it. There are lots of other things that I would like to see and have sent my list off to Adobe which anyone can do.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
