I captured this shot yesterday. A little blown out, but the result of that is I captured the pond and reflection better. And the slight bit of sharpening I did to the re-size made the rest of the photo better, but has created jaggies around the head.

C&C welcome. I will be trying to get better shots every time I got out, but I may not get the pond so still again.

Thanks. I do welcome any tips or hints as to how to improve any of the shots I post: I'm interested in learning how to take better pics, and although proud of the shots I post here, I know they can always be improved upon, even if luck has to be utilized (e.g. I'm still trying to get a clean photo of the ManBearPig that Al Gore warned us about)...

;)

Mind posting a shot without the sharpening? Looks a little over sharpened too me.

Edit: I had attached a resized not-sharpened image, but upon closer inspection of the source image, I suspect Something Went Wrong in my post-processing - there seems to be over-sharpening edge-enhancement on the original, which bleeds through to the re-size. I need to look at this better when I get a chance - not right now, since I am somewhere that rhymes with "Turk". ;)

I will probably not have a chance in the next day to spend time at home on this topic, but if I do, I will update accordingly.

OK, found some time tonight. This is after re-processing the RAW file. Looks like the sharpness setting had been set to "kill" when I exported originally. This with sharpness set to zero on export to jpg, in comparison. I did sharpen a bit after resizing to 1024.

Softer, but not as harsh.

I suspect I will look back at this in a year and say "why did I post such a lousy shot? - it's way too soft and blown out".
