so im happy to shoot during the day because i get more light but its tough shooting with harsh sunlight. i think i did fairly good. im am not 100% sure how to battle the sun and win every time :(

my instructions for the day was to get as many action shots with as many players as possible, unfortunately some players are more aggressive than others so i got more pictures with those.

i had a lot of keepers today but here are some that i really like :D

they really look pretty good

that harsh light can make thermals that reduce sharpness and mess with AF, Canon at least, but they look good

These are great! I love the aggressiveness seen in these shots. I said this before, but great timing on your snaps. Do you shoot single or multi?

i have multi turned on but i usually try to shoot single so i dont have a bunch of the same shot. it depends on the situation and it helps that im learning the sport and can predict when i need to burst or just take one or two. like when they jump to hit the ball with their head ill take only one. but if they are running with the ball and bumping into each other ill let it fly and in some cases ill get 4 nice shots out of one burst

Good work here Brian. Your timing is very good. Watch your crops as you have a tendency to leave lots of dead space at the top. You could probably play with the shadow and highlight sliders a bit in post and add a little more capture sharpening as well to crisp it up a bit. Just like shooting in dark gyms or night sports, I will always shoot RAW on harsh sun days as it gives me just a little more to work with in post. FYI, I have gone to using DPP exclusively to convert the RAW files then editing in PS. Personally, I think DPP does a MUCH better job at conversion (there are tons of threads on the web supporting this if you care but I am speaking form personal experience).

Keep up the good work and keep posting images for crit, you'll get better and better all the time, no matter how experienced you become.

thanks, i shot those in jpeg and i used LR3 to do my cropping and it automatically keeps the crops proportional to the original size i think. i might start just cropping in photoshop so i have more freedom to takeout that extra head room.
