Ok, question for all... I have a 7D and got the 10-22mm for that, but I have also aquired a 5D Classic, and was looking for a wide angle for that body too, since I can't use the 10-22 on it.

So.. any suggestions, especially that won't break my bank?

Thanks in advance!!!

17-40L is probably the best starting point.

I'm afraid here is nothing for UWA zoom.
I used to have Vivitar 19-35 for 120$. Very sharp, but colors and contrasts are dull. Have to PP pictures from this lens a lot.
Sold it and purchased 17-40 F4. I'm happy very often with SOOC images from this lens.

How about ZERO $ ? Pop the rear baffle out of your EF-S 10-22 and you are good to go...

https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=7985482#post7985482

It will hit the mirror at 10-11mm, vignette badly at 12-14mm, works great from 15-22mm.

It's a thought, but would still like to use the 10-22 with my 7D. Would I still be able to?

I feel this would be an excellent choice. I've been using mine for about 5 years now and have been very pleased with the results:

Yes, it will still mount to the 7D, but you will have a larger rear opening. If you want you can substitute a baffle from an EF lens.

Yea, I followed your links and also found a few more. Kinda scared to do that actually. Was looking at the Sigma 12-24, maybe sell the 10-22 and go for that.

Another option is the Tokina 11-16. It will mount on a 5D without any mods and will not vignette at 15-16mm. And you still have the option to use it on your 7D.

All non canon crop lenses will mount and fire on the 5D fine.

I've shot my 10-20 sigma on a 5D, heavy vignette up to 16mm but still.

Buy the 17-40L. There are alternatives but , buy the 17-40L.

My Tokina 11-16 does not seem to agree with the vignette at 16mm, there are plenty at 2.8.
Have you taken a look at the Samyang 14mm F2.8?

bannedPermanent ban

Does it have to be a zoom. The samyung 14mm is a very nice lens if manual focus is ok with you. At such a focal length, manual focus is very easy.

16-35 2.8 II is what I use on my 5D. It works well. But mods are always fun.
