I do like the shot a lot. I am mixed with cropping the bottom out or not. Part of me says to do it because the focus of the picture is the city with the two beams of light. Another part of me says keep it as-is because I do like the rocks. I just think they are a little distracting being on the opposite side (laterally) as the city. I think the B&W works very well for this shot and the lighting is good.

On another note, please excuse my ignorance, but how did NYC do this? I'm assuming they had two searchlights shining up into the sky but I don't remember reading about it anywhere.

I keep going back to this photo and I cannot decide if I like it or not. One time I'll think it's awesome and when I look at it 10 minutes later I say to myself, "meh." I am very interested in how you achieve the effect in the photo. It looks like it's foggy. Was it foggy? How did you get the overall gray, almost silver tone, to the picture?

Sorry if I am asking too many questions.

The rocks in the foreground draws too much attention.

I don't mind the rocks in the foreground so much, but I would have liked to see a little bit more of the skyline on the right. Leaves me feeling like it's chopped off.

Other than that... great shot and great job!

I'm quite a attracted to it the way it is. I really like this unusual view for the tribute. The reflections in the water are a nice echo of the lights beaming upwards. The rocks in the foreground add a secondary point of interest. I think it works.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm leaning towards keeping it the way it is but if more feedback says otherwise I might reconsider.
