This one was taken of wild horses on the current river. Technically out of a canoe, but it's close enough to a kayak right :D

QUOTED IMAGE

I was on the jacks fork about a mile up from the current river. I was fishing around these horses one night. Some came with in 5 yards form me. After i was done people form the campsite told me that they camp there every year and they never seen anyone get so close to wild horses. I said, "WILD HORSE?" Then I was mad at myself for not taking my camera with me that night. Great Pictures!!! Makes me miss the Ozark

May I add a few of my own observations.
- I was going to get a 12 foot Jon boat for stability but changed my mind due to portability. I can easily throw the kayak on top of my car and a couple of tie downs and off I go
- I have a 10 footer sit-inside no rudder. I would not recommend this unless you are only going on a small lakes that's sheltered from the winds. It won't track and you are on constant paddling. I am going to replace it with either a 12 footer or a tandem kayak.
- For first time buyers. Please check your area for regulations. Life jacket, throw line, bailing bucket, non-powered signalling device (whistle), etc. On a hot sunny day. Practice getting in and out of your boat as well...:) Eskimo roll? forget about it:)
- Same goes with electric motors. In my area I need a boat operating license in able to use any powered motor.

Sorry my photos are not as good as the others but here's mine.

This is my Black Friday purchase. It's only a 10 footer, but I couldn't resist the $129 price tag. I hope to be contributing to this thread soon.

very unsual way to launch a boat. Step 1. Drive to the boat launch. Step 2. Tell the driver to hit the brakes real hard

Congrats to your new purchase. That's a steal.

Thanks for creating this thread? I'm an avid sea kayaker and have always been tempted to take my camera rig with me. Most of my paddling is on the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries. The photographic opportunities on our trips are endless, but the conditions lend themselves to sudden storms and spray/splash coming over the sides of the boat. This is what concerns me more than capsizing. Are there any affordable alternatives to an underwater housing to combat these conditions?

One thing I do when I'm on rivers with a risk of capsizing is store my gear in a waterproof case attached to my kayak. Mine is a Plano and similar to a pelican 1510.

Nice shots and thanks for sharing. I can't wait for the green herons to come back around here. I've always been partial to those guys.
