My first time shooting at a skate park or skateboarder for that matter. Turned out pretty dang good I think. They were happy with them. Gonna do it again soon I hope. Tell me what you all think please. Thanks

Lighting: 1 AlienBee 800 barebulbed from respective side as is evident on photos.

It is hard to tell what is going on in most of these, cause you can't see where he is coming from or going to land. Always try to include the take off and landing as much as possible to give the audience an idea of how difficult the trick is, such as #3(even though you cant see the whole hip). 5 and 7 you can kind of tell what is going on. I like all the color and exposure besides #5, good job. So next time out try to include a little more of the skater's obstacle. Just to give more respect to what they are doing. Have fun!

Great shots, I really want to get into some strobes like that because it just makes the picture that much more dramatic and appealing. Hope to see more in the future

Thanks very much for the comments. #5 of course is purposely washed out for that effect since normal it was kind of bland. This was my first shoot so I'm happy with it but i will take into consideration all advise. Thanks

I agree with Cronu the timing is good and so is the focus and lighting is awesome but definitely try to show more of the take off and landing it adds interest. I'd recommend looking through a skateboard magazine and see how the photo's are shot. I think 3 is the closest to what is desirable for a skateboarding shot. Other than that good job on your first time shooting skating

sweet freeze action stuff! Love the sun setting. I have a skate park near me in Bk and would love to try this out. How did you approach the kids or did you have to ask someone to take photos there? Thanks

Well, I showed up to the park just with my camera and hung out before even taking a picture, after 10 minutes or so I took only a couple shots without strobes and kids started asking if I was shooting for a magazine. I told them no but that I was shooting for fun and would even send them some pictures web sized if they wanted to do some tricks for the camera. They were totally more than willing to do this as was the case at another skate park I went to. I busted out my strobe and like 7 of them were doing tricks for me. Easy, they love getting pictures of themselves as much as any other person does.
Thanks for all the compliments on my first skate park shoot too.
