I have a Sig 120-400mm and am pretty happy with it but not very, so I bought a Kenko 1.4 extender which wasn't really a good idea (cheap glass on cheap glass) having seen the stunning shots on here (especially the deer ones) I can't get close (quality wise not nearness) with my kit (I'll have to keep the 550D) but am thinking about the Canon 100-400 L series lens ... given that budget is a BIG factor how does this sound ... many thanks Roger Canon 5D Mk II, Canon 24-105L, Canon 400L, Speedlite 580 EX, Canon SX 50 HS.

Maybe hire one first just to be sure? Your Kenk will still work with it and probably give you useable results. "Don't believe everything you read on the Internet" - Winston Churchill

Jonathan got a chance to use his flash setup. And we are currently wetting our whistles in the Bell. For constructive purposes of course. Wayne A.W.O.L.

It was a Pentax S5I. It's a fairly old 5mp but it will do as a spare for on a boat, bad weather etc. The housing was OK in a pool but I'm not sure what state the O rings are in so I wouldn't take it on a dive. If it's like the Canon housings, you can't get to the O-rings to change them.

We started off at Dungeness, and then found a willing farmer to let us use his yard. Then off to a local pub (The Bell at Ivychurch) for a swift one, before heading back to Jonathan and Cindy's for Tea. I would like to once again thank Cindy for her exceptional tea and sandwich making skills. Pics to follow shortly. Wayne A.W.O.L.
