The point is though Wayne that that recovery method will put back all the stuff you just spent hours removing. The way I described to Matt gives you back your preffered setup :-)

No, i get your point jonathan. Vels didnt have anything important luckily, and it wouldnt get past the bios screen. Luckily it is no longer a brick. :)

HDR haters beware, I'm planning to compensate for a poor 2011 photographically by doing a 366 (just to make it even more difficult) project for 2012, with HDR's (some of them NDR's) alone....

Am I insane?

Show off ;)

It depends, are we going to get 1 exposure per day for a week culminating in the final HDR at the weekend? You'll have to keep it to 7 shots then ;)

Also doing some quick math, at 6 months processing time per image (your defacto standard) it will take you 183 years to complete the project.

Maybe not insane, but certainly overly optimistic regarding the NHS's ability to keep you rolling along for that length of time :)

It's definitely worth it if you can mate. I really enjoyed doing mine (most days) and you learn loads about your own shooting style, what kit you use most etc. I'm planning on doing a rather large writeup in the new year to sort of wrap up the project, but it was a lot of fun.

I never committed to processing each day though, that's too much work. There were times when I was 2 weeks behind in posting images but kept taking them each day. If I stated I'd be posting 1 image every day I probably would have given up much earlier. Much earlier.

Morning all.

Got money burning a hole in my pocket and looking to get a 24-105. Cheapest I have found it is HDewcameras @£655. Can't seem to find it any cheaper. Does anyone have any experience hdew. Was thinking of driving there this afternoon.

I brought my 24 -105L this time last year and 100 - 400L in August both orders were via there website order system there was a hiccup with the 20-105 order due to my CC company compatibility with HDW system (my CC Company fault) I phoned HDW and they sorted the order over the phone the 100 - 400 was ordered over the BH got lost in the HDW internal process again a phone call fixed this.

The 2 orders yes I did have some problems but HDW sorted them very quickly, the grey import may or may not be an issue to you for a lens I do not have an issue given the level of use I have

Sometimes I take good photos other times !!!!

Not forgetting Kerso, though my list is well out of date so should be worth getting a new list from him??? Edit ~ on his eBay site it is £739 but his offering to PoTN and TP memebrs is always below his eBay store figures.

Nice idea Neal, the added incentive of money for a good cause at the end should encourage you along the way. You might want to come up with action or develop setting to save time doing it manually every day though. Maybe even an iPhone HDR app, or does that not count?

Alas one set of photomatix settings don't work for every image, one realisation that did dawn on me is if I'm out shooting till the wee hours, id miss that days deadline, perhaps the next day is a better target?

^^ Never heard of them but looks like they are grey importers from what Mr Google found for me.

Agreed! Though it does make my efforts seem fairly self serving now ;) Only 4 more shots to go now!

I really wouldn't worry about the when of posting the images, that'll be the least of your concerns. Just commit to taking at least 1 image a day and get them online when you can.

A plea for some advice :D

I may have a buyer for my MPE but I am not sure how best to go about arranging payment if he decides to buy - it came about via a friend who uses TP and told the guy about me so we have been corresponding.

He (the possible buyer) suggested using PayPal and I have an account but havent updated it for a couple of years, but am I right in thinking that if you use PayPal they make a charge for their services? Also I dont really know how to go about actually using it this way - only used it for sponsor stuff and once or twice on ebay some years ago lol.

Is bank transfer the safest option? My choice was he pays buy cheque, I wait for it to clear, he waits and trusts me. We want some way that offers both of us security.

What do you guys do these days then?

Thanks in advance.

Linda
