@Mark, as much as I would like to relieve you of your 100 I am tempted to pop round yours with a baseball bat loaded with some common sense, you only have to look at your shutterstock to see how much you have improved and achieved this year. Like I think Mike said don't always take your camera with you or get a point and shoot so you still have a crutch.

Well, went to HDew Cameras yesterday after phoning them about the 24-105, decided based on comments on here and other web sites it was worth a punt. Got there and couldn't find it . Although they say you can go there they dont have an actual shop but offices in an office building. Still a quick phone call and a guy called Shaun came down to meet me at the front door (It was only shut as the receptionist wasnt in). Very helpful people, seemed very busy with items lined up to be sent out and the a couple of people on the phone taking enquiries. So some money changed hands and I walked out with a new lens :)

I had similar problems finding it, they have been around for a while and I have got my 70-200 from them and no regrets

Hi Chris

Thanks for the insight but I have read that household cover when dealing with "like for like" cover (also called new for old???) can be a minefield should the need arise to claim for specialist stuff like cameras e.g. theri view of like for like could be to offer a replacement based on the MP of the camera not the full spec i.e. a match for what you had lost?

FWIW when I made a claim some years back for white goods I was told what I could have i.e. they named the make & models but if I wished for cash to buy my choices it was 20% less than claimed value! Was not best pleased to be locked in to their supply channel arrangements :(

Hmmm, intriguing. Care to name the insurer?

If you are refering to my ref to experience with white goods it was CU and I had what I thought was the fully loaded policy with new for old et al ~ it had a "name" which I cannot recall. I had insured with them for yonks and this was I think my first & only ever claim!? This was as noted some few years back...............mid 2000's ???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Makes me wonder if I'd better check. I have to call them in the New Year anyway so will ask then. Thanks :)

I know this has been discussed before but I need to renew my kit insurance (actually I am sure it has lapsed???) I am/was with AUA but always thought it the cover was maybe not adequate.

Basically looking for good cover including abroad and locked car but maybe also be "full theft" I think it is called. With option to add on semi pro cover (as I read it that should be PL & [Scratches head] something else non personal???) should I ever sell any output of my efforts ;)

Aaduki, ImagingInsurance & Photoguard seems to get good comments...............please remind me who do you guys 'n gals use???

TIA :)

Ref ~ Camera gear insurance, anyone else able to remind me who they have used and would recommend now???

Better safe than sorry. FWIW my claim was more than just white goods but not happy thinking back to that 'event' so even if I could do not want to remember everything :(

LaurenceI use Aaduki but also got a quote from risk alliance, Risk alliance had some strange exclusions from their policy like broken glass in the small print which when I asked for clarification they said it was fair wear and tear which I was not happy with but used their quote to which was over £100 less than aaduki to negotiate with them and they virtually matched the offer

Does anyone fancy joining me and doing a photo 52 for 2012. Not as prolific as I would like to be and as quite a few of you and want to pull my finger out for the new year and try some different things as well.

Adrian, many thanks for the insight. I take it your cover is such to cover the semi pro nature of your requirement but did you 'start' with Aaduki using their online quotation system because I see from that they are only asking for the total value of goods to be covered??? Need to get my head round it again by digging out my old schedule I had with AUA.

Hmmmm! I think one a week as a project would be all I could aspire to as it stands now???

At least it could concentrate the mind and be combined with getting together a tad more often for SE PoTN meets & mini-meets :D

I gave up with their online thing and gave them a ring a lot easier and they are very helpful.

When quoting values you need to think replacement values e.g. if you have a 40D you need to quote the value of a 60D. if you have anything over a grand they will want the serial number. For me I have professional liability, indemnity and public liability and also includes trackside.

The only exclusion of note is items kept in a motor vehicle overnight

ive been thinking for a while now that im just not really getting any better with my photos, I cant really put my finger on it, ive kind of got, I think lax and worst at shooting this year which makes me think that maybe its not for me and I should just sort out a nice normal camera and just take nice pics of George enjoying his self and stop all this before I really start to invest in more camera stuff, which is never ending.. I don't know im probably being daft

Mark - when i see you next, you are going to get a slap.

Seriously - dont be an idiot. I personally use your images as a target point for how i would like some of my images to turn out.

Stop being an idiot or you wont get your 35L back...... ;)
