I gave up with their online thing and gave them a ring a lot easier and they are very helpful.

When quoting values you need to think replacement values e.g. if you have a 40D you need to quote the value of a 60D. if you have anything over a grand they will want the serial number. For me I have professional liability, indemnity and public liability and also includes trackside.

The only exclusion of note is items kept in a motor vehicle overnight

Great added information and as you say a phone with info to hand ref values and as needed serial numbers et al sounds like it might be best??? Especially as likely no two users are 100% identical in their requirements (current, perceived or planned)?

Does anyone fancy joining me and doing a photo 52 for 2012. Not as prolific as I would like to be and as quite a few of you and want to pull my finger out for the new year and try some different things as well.

I could be tempted by this. As much as I'd like to try a 365 I just cant see I'd have the time/inspiration to be able to carry it off. Whats the idea of the 52? Any specific subjects each week or just anything?

Just random thoughts ~ river scene, landscape, mode(s) of transport, animal or bird never photographed before, old building(s), modern building(s), churches, ruined buildings, macro, star trails, fungi, water falls, slow shutter speed captures...............i.e. something to concentrate the mind and creativity or in my case what passes for it

Edit ~ hmmm! letters of the alphabet wil give us 26 'subjects' so half a year taken up just with that as "thematic" starter :D The challenge being to think of something beginning with each letter in advance to go photograph??? Bearing in mind it must be fairly obvious what the prime subject is to match that letter. More I think about it may be more trouble than it is worth with that as the starting point :(

Some great suggestions there. I really like the idea of some weeks including a certain technique so to speak (i.e. I've always wanted to give the star trails you mentioned a go).

Cant quite work out if using the alphabet could be a little too restrictive if we are looking to get them done in order? It would be good to coincide some weeks with any meets that might be going on too.

Yup, I did end by saying the alphabet was not as good an idea as I initially thought it might be

In my first support post to Adrian's post #6883 I also said meets would be good as incentive.

Watching this space to see how this idea might pan out if we are approaching it as a (small) group???

ive been thinking for a while now that im just not really getting any better with my photos, I cant really put my finger on it, ive kind of got, I think lax and worst at shooting this year which makes me think that maybe its not for me and I should just sort out a nice normal camera and just take nice pics of George enjoying his self and stop all this before I really start to invest in more camera stuff, which is never ending.. I don't know im probably being daft

lol mate, really?? I mean this in all jest, but this is how I read that:

"Dear diary,

I'm ugly and everyone hates me.

Pretty, popular girl"

I don't for a moment think you're attention grabbing, but I have no idea where the lack of confidence in your work is coming from. Your work speaks for itself and your shortlisting in the competitions is more evidence. Also just saw your Nat. Geo photo of the day (external link). How exactly are you falling short of your expectations??

I mean this with the utmost respect, but if you do quit I'll be part of the aforementioned mob with bats coming to visit you :)

I'm putting my camera away for all of January if I can :)
