Hey guys, I've got a question for you guys... especially those that do studio shots with a white background.

How do you, without post, make sure that your subjects' ears aren't glowing red due to the strong backlight needed to get the paper/background white SOOC? I'm looking for on-set suggestions, as well as post processing suggestions... If I can prevent it on-set, all the better!

Thanks ;)

If your ears are red then the backlight is too hot, or the subject is too close to the background......maybe both.

If you own a light meter then you want to meter the light hitting the background and get it about 1.5 times hotter than key. Also meter light falling on the back of your subject. I normally don't want the light hitting the back of my model to be any more than my expsoure.

Yep. You're either throwing too much light on the backdrop, or the subject is too close, or both.
