I apologise if this is a daft question but, I have a 1DMKii and know I need to be looking for lenses that are EF fit. I know Canon describe them as EF or EF-S lenses.
However when looking for other brand lenses such as Tamron and Sigma what should I be looking for in the description, dont understand all the letters after there lens descriptions.

Kind regards

Phil

For Canon branded lenses, use EF lenses, not EF-S lenses.
For Sigma, avoid the DC lenses. DG lenses are fine.
For other brands, you would have to look up how they name their crop sub-frame lenses as I don't have much experience with Tamron or Tokina.

to add:

Tamron ...
Di is EF, Di II is EF-S

Tokina ...
FX is EF, DX is EF-S

Sigma ...
DG is EF, DC is EF-S

note that most 3rd party lenses even if Di II, DC or DX will mount on EF mounts, but most will also have vignetting. only the EF-S mounts can't mount on EF without modification.
