Try using slower shutter speeds to get some motion in the wheels. Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

Nothing wrong with the other shots, except I agree with the last post......slow the shutter down to get some wheel blur.....give it a feeling of 'action'. I usually shoot MX no faster than 1/200 to go some blur. My flickr

Thanks, but I find that because of the vertical displacement and vibration associated with motocross, I got far too few keepers with slow shutter speed. I still need sharp subjects for a successful image. With road race cars and superbikes, I slow the shutter speed to get the blurred background and sense of speed. kit lens wrote in post #13111590 First shot is awesome. I hear what you are saying but in my old shaky hands, I need a higher shutter speed to get enough sharp keepers. nofreee wrote in post #13113595 Very clean and crisp. Thanks a lot. Roostonmylens wrote in post #13115448 Cool shots bro, well exposed ![]() I think with the blur of wheels, motocross is the execption BECAUSE they have roost, and because you can see their body positioning. So you can tell they're going fast even if the wheels aren't blurred. I find, higher shutter speed gives me more keepers, but a slower shutter speed usually captures that one great one ![]() Hey, you're in my head. -Harv-

I tend to disagree on this - I think for motocross a high shutter speed will capture all the dirt etc. better than slower shutter. The only thing I would've changed is the aperture, to get a nicer DOF, e.g. #4 is a nice shot, but the sharp grass in the background annoys me. However car events and super bike events need panning!
