Forgive my simple questions ... I appreciate any info.

I am an amateur but have had local interest in some of my landscape photos. I am thinking about trying the Zenfolio trial and would be interested in the $100/yr option in hopes of securing a few headache-free sales but have a few questions.

Should the uploaded photos be original size or low res? I assume they should be edited first.

I see that people can order prints of various sizes ... how does one go about cropping? Is it done by me after someone places an order?

I believe one can specify the web address used to access one's work ... if so, any thoughts on the best addresses? your name, create a business name or ....

Any other Zenfolio pearls?

Thanks in advance

You can set it up to have your client choose the crop, or have all orders approved by you first so you can make the final adjustments.

The variety products you are offering your clients should determine what file size you upload. Some of the stand outs are quite large and would benefit from a high resolution file.

The $100 a year option also give you the choice of charging for downloads, but you can limit the size the client can download.

You can register a domain name and have it point to your Zenfolio site and remove the Zenfolio branding with the $100 option.

Also, just FYi, there are plenty of promotional codes floating out there for Zenfolio that will save you some money.

Hope that helps

You can google to search for them, but usually 10% - 20% off.

Any reason you arent going to use Smugmug? They are set up similarly but you already have a Smugmug account.

I dont upload the full-res, but I do upload very high res. Enough for a 24 x 30, at least.

I always choose to have me confirm the crop.

my zen site is merely www.joepapeo.com (external link) but my company name is joe papeo photography so it works out.

zen is very customizable but there are a few things i hope they improve. nothing that you would notice but i have my site very customized and would like a few things changed there. Zen wants to be very aggressive in the market so they are making changes based on suggestions.

customize your site. its easy once you get the hang of it.
