I dont think we have a thread dedicated to panning shots. I love the look of them but it's something I'm still trying to perfect. Thought it might be good to see a collection altogether so post away!

I love them too but I don't think they are panning are they? they are of course great shots of fast moving dogs - but yours Whippeticious are very good examples of panning - the background has a true zoomy effect to it with the subject sharp. I love the zoomy effect, it gives a real feeling of speed, but I think the others might still be classed as panning because I think the term panning just means you follow the subject as it moves. The look just varies depending on the shutter speed. Of course, I might be wrong.

It's a very definite technique, which is very different to freezing action shots like you've done with your whippets racing. Both are great techniques and looks - just different that's all. thanks for the article, will have to try this when i next go home and see my dogs it looks quite fun Kit: Canon 7DII/Canon 40D/Canon 18-55mm/Tamron 90mm/Canon 50mm f1.8/Tamron 70-200 f2.8/Tamron 24-70 f2.8/Tamron 150-600
