someone will be along shortly claiming use of a lens hood would have stopped the damage...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

What caught my attention in this article was $4500 for the roof repair. Give me a break, I saw the photo of the damage and there is no way that was $4500. That lens cost more than the damage.
If I was the lens owner, I would sue for the damage caused to the lens when it hit the roof...;)

just a few of my thoughts...

Looks like there was a UV filter in the debris pile? :-)

Insurance adjusters can come up with foolish numbers. I would bet that the roof shingles are old, so the adjuster says the whole roof needs to be redone becasue they won't match. That's what happened when a dishwasher of ours failed while we were away on vacation. About 20 sq ft of vinyl floor was ruined, but since it was against a wall, about 2 sq ft of paint had gotten wet. Well in order to match everything, the adjuster figured painting our entire open concept first floor. I got a check for $9600.00.

If you must know...
