Nice review Ben. Can you add any of the modular or skin components to the waist area? Thanks! :)

Thanks! I've been looking into this type of set up for a while now and just wanted clarification. :)

Yeah, since these are Speed bags, you can either lock the modular components in, or have them slide around if you need quick changes.

Think Tank has a buyer's review up for the Speed Demon where the buyer made distinctions between the original and v2.0 version. One is that the belt is skimpier to make it less bulky, but at some expense of wearing comfort. I discovered that v2.0 has the belt hidden behind the side pockets whereas before, the belt went behind the rear panel. Behind side pockets pushes somewhat into the main cavity. It's hard to win when two bag pockets are on two sides of a common soft wall.

Jacob, was it you that mentioned the issue with the shoulder strap and opening the bag? Don't know if it was you or someone else but they moved the strap to a loop and it made opening easier.

yes and yes. There's a second set of loops on the belt.

yes, and you can lock them into the smaller loops with the white tabs or not if you want.

well, putting the belt into the side straps takes room out of the SIDE pockets, yes, but those are mesh. The padding for the camera block is thick enough the belt doesn't push through that into the inside area of the bag if you know what I mean. I prefer the V2 method as it takes space from something I don't use that much, where the V1 version (between you and the bag) makes the bag lumpy against your side.

But I'll also add to that I don't use the bag w/o using the belt. If I want a bag like that I use my retro. I've come to love having 2 bags for my 2 different styles of shooting. ;)

Hows that loop holding up for you? Got my bag yesterday and testing it out right now. Definitely loving the thickness of the strap.

I put my gear in the bag and with the weight, the bag sags. So you definitely have to use the shoulder strap. Thank god I didnt get the Lowepro Inverse. No shoulder strap is needed if camera and lens attached is not in the bag.

I'm still torn between the Speed Freak or the Clikelite Trekker waistbag

I've only seen the trekker in person, but it is definitely smaller than the speed freak and will have limitations if you plan on carrying something long like a 70-200.

However, at the $65 online price it is quite attractive...

the price tag is swaying me towards it. i don't own a 70-200, but i do occasionally rent lenses. the thinktank however enables me to add modular pieces to belt which i like.

Ben have you tried the Think Tank BackPacks?
I would like to try one. However, I intend to rig it between the 2 seats in my Miata. If it will fit. Like the "Roadster Bag" that used to be sold on the Porsche Pete Boxster Bag. It's no longer available. Someone else is using that name for a completely different bag set.

Best

no, but I've thought of putting one under my legs in my car as well (tucked back against the seat). Interesting. I'm thinking a TT backpack might be my next review though. I need to decide which kind I want though, pure backpack, the roller one, or the one that goes into a pelican.

Thanks Ben. I appreciate the feedback. I would use this bag for walking around when I don't need my TT UD 60. :)

Thanks Ben. I plan to use Night Ize 'biners to hang mine. Concern would be having the bag move if I have to stop or steer quickly. Happened yesterday when a truck lost entire tire tread.
