I can't believe I just invested in this tripod... OY VEY... My current CF tripod (Amvona AT-CF94) still work fine and dandy, but I couldn't pass on a good deal with these legendary Gitzo legs... DOUBLE OY VEY!!! Can't wait to play with it when it arrives next week... It'll be mounted with an RRS BH-55 ball head unit... Can I say for sure that this will be my last tripod?! Let's hope so... Review forthcoming...

Nice Butch, you're gonna love those legs. Yes, you can throw the other ones away afterwards ;-)a

Congrats Butch, the 3530LS is a good tripod and I'm looking forward to your review! Hope you got the $40 Gitzo rebate... :) It's worth looking at the Naturescapes safety plate for it too, take a look at what happened in the "most liked negative review" on the B&H page for this tripod. Not unusual with 3-series tripods I'm afraid but the safety plate absolutely fixes the problem.

How much and where did you get it from? And did you mean the Gitzo 3530LS not the Gitzo 3530LSV?

Thanks everyone for the well wishes... And Ben, I picked it up at another "location"... From my understanding, it's the version prior to the Gitzo 3530LS... The "V" stood for "video" capabilities or something... I hope that helped some..

:D

PS. On a side note to Ben... You've been the reason why I invested in a few items including the Pelican 1624 case and the RRS Perfect Portraiture Setup (bought two of these)... Your descriptions and reviews are AMAZING!!! Thanks for that...

Yes, the V usually indicates that the tripod comes with a video bowl head adapter. Like this one: LINK (external link)which comes with this: LINK (external link)

Yours is just the previous model of the first link I posted up there. So did you get the bowl adapter with yours? Are you looking to use it for video? If so what head are you planning on putting on it?

And thank you very much. Im glad I could be of help. Always nice to hear my efforts were not in vain :)

^ It did come with the bowl adapter, Ben... With regards to using these legs for video, I'm not.. For now it's strictly for still photography... Lastly, your efforts for helping out with your product reviews and personal experiences are very much appreciated... I can vouch for that!!! Thanks again Ben!!!

I have the Gitzo Gt3530LS (Systematic) which works just fine for my 600 F4. I have a few other Gitzos and can confidently state that any 3 series Gitzo is overkill for your gear and frankly that's the best place to be - your camera cannot be TOO stable!
The great advantage of the 3530LS is that it is still quite light and portable, yet is capable of supporting (very well) anything Cannon currently make.
I think you will be very happy with your purchase - I am delighted with mine!

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

Much congrats! Hard to beat a BH-55 ballhead over Gitzo Systematic legs. ;)
