Screw the 5D Mk III.

They're announcing the release of the 1D Mk V (a merger of the 1D/1Ds line), 28 MP, 9.5 FPS, full HP video mode with AF, Full Frame + 1.3 crop sensor, dual digic V, dual CF card slots...

Also they are making ALL lenses...and bodies, WHITE!

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

I imagine it has to be something quite bigger than a single camera (i.e. 5DMKIII), for so puffed up an occasion.

For example, say, an entire new line of camcorders or what have you.

Not to say maybe new camera(s) wouldn't be part of a larger announcement, but I would be surprised if this was just to announce a camera. Even a new 1 series one.

That said, I have no frame of reference for what they've done in the past. Anyone recall any recent 'remember the date' type things from Canon?

Considering the 5DmkII is good enough to be used, and has been used, for major Hollywood productions, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the 5DmkIII being part of this red carpet event.

I would think that an event like this isn't around 1 product, but perhaps a whole group of products that they've been working on.

I doubt it would be a 3D dslr. Wouldn't it have to have 2 lenses on it? Although the invitation does use the word "historic." A 3D dslr would indeed be historic!
