I hear the Fedex truck pull up in front with the new body that I'm going to use for 2 football games this weekend. Now I don't want to look like a kid on Christmas morning, so I wait for the doorbell. Nothing, no bell, no door knock, nothing. I go to the door to see the guy driving away, and I'm left with a door tag *&%$#!

Within 5 minutes I call customer service in Memphis and they get in touch with the local dispatcher. They tell me they will send a message to the driver and he will come back and deliver. Two hours later they call and say they can't find the driver.

Just my rant, but it only takes one person to screw up the perception of a huge organization.

First thing I thought. It works fine. and there are door knockers on both doors that I can hear in the back yard. Thank you for the idea though.

If that is the case, did you explain to the fed ex service person that you never heard a doorbell despite the fact that you were listening for it, and that you needed the package this weekend for work? Also, if you need it for this weekend you may be able to pick it up. I had a few similar situations when I lived in Jax and I was able to zoom over to the distribution center and pick up my package there.

You guys are full of great ideas, but unfortunately this package has to be signed for by me at the delivery address only.

Weird, you should have gone as soon as you hear the guy...does your doorbell work?

As far as the doortag, the shipper probably wants to make double sure it is delivered and not left outside for someone to steal. Pretty standard for expensive stuff...

If I'm home, the delivery guy rarely has to even leave his truck to get me my package...as soon as I hear those brakes outside, I'm like a fat kid chasing an ice cream truck :D

I hate FedEx...I had so many problems with them at our last house that I refused to use them. I was ordering a camera from BuyDig and they would only ship FedEx so I ended up buying it locally.

The same driver delivered to neighborhood and would regularly not even attempt to deliver. One time they even changed the address on a DVD burner that I ordered and sent it to a person in my city with the same name, 9 miles away from me, then they wouldn't do anything because they said it was delivered. I had to go to the address and aske the guy to give it to me.

We've moved and haven't had any problems since then, but I always use UPS if I have a choice.

Well im sorry man but you should have just greeted him....not hid in your house.

I mean if he didn't ring your bell and just skipped you then it is on him, but if you KNEW he was outside id have made sure he saw me.

Thats just me, i know everyone is different.

You should be able to pick it up at the FedEx center, sign for it, and go. Won't be able to pick it up until the truck returns at the end of the day though.

I thought you were going to say that they shipped the wrong item or the camera was damaged/broken or didn't come at all...Just pick it up later...

FedEx sucks in this regard. My mom is in an adult family home and gets meds delivered. I've been outside the door getting ready to leave and seen the truck drive away, having left the package without knocking.

Lazy drivers, period.
