As a new owner of the 5D2, this scares the piss outta me. I thought I would poll the esteemed group here at POTN on this issue.

In the 4+ years I've shot with the 350D, this has never happened.

I would not spend more then one half second worrying about this. I have 3 5D MKII's... I use them in ALL SORTS of conditions, I've put tens of thousands of clicks on all of them, and I've never had this happen.

This came up in a thread from last year:

If interested, I gave some thought and experimenting to this and posted it here:

I've had it happen to me a few times. The fault was always with the lens adapter, never with the lens or the camera body.

Im guessing there is some user error here, I have had lenses that I though were on and then I give them another litle twist and hear the pin drop in meaning its actually locked. Im guessing by now Canon has the EOS->EF mount figured out pretty well.

If you read my post that I linked to above (even though it's a bit "Long...winded") I put out some thoughts and it would be interesting to get some feedback!

Don't let it scare you. This is one of the problems with mass communication via the internet: 1 or 2 jackasses misuse a product and damage it and can stir up a whole conspiracy of why it wasn't their fault.

As the saying goes, sh*t happens; move on and don't waste time worrying about it.

I fail to see how a grip would rectify the situation
