Well, I did have to go out into the pasture and get Sunny into the barn. She gets lost and confused in the rain because she's blind and can't find her way with the noise from the rain.

The donkey is smart enough to go into the barn and get out of the rain...and wait for the dumb human to go out to the barn in the rain and feed her. ;-)a

Well, I got plenty of pics of the Tehachapi Loop tracks, but no trains. I was there for more than 3 hours and not a single one went through, despite the sign that stated it services "as many as 36 freight trains each day." I saw some guys trimming trees near the tracks, so maybe they had it closed for a while because of that. Naturally, around 5:30, after I returned to the hotel and it started to get dark, the tracks outside my room window came alive and it's been one train after another since then, all headed toward the loop.

I'll try again tomorrow before I head home...

Sounds like the way things go for me when I go specifically looking for trains. Busiest tracks in the area and I see nothing....unless there is no camera handy and then there are 50 trains just waiting to play.

Hey Chief....I know this shot has those nasty yeller things in it....but I share it because of the ex-CNW unit with a starring role.

Last time I went train hunting I didn't find any either. They seem to know when I'm coming. If I'm feeling up to it tomorrow afternoon I might go stalk one and see if I can capture it. It really sucks that I've been sick during the best fall colour.

I've been sick since I returned from dealing with the flooding in NY....I got zero good autumn photos here and I haven't even been able to ride my bike....bah!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with that problem...

I'd love to have the energy to ride my bike. The good weather is retreating quickly and it will be awhile before there is a nice amount of snow for taking winter pics. I need to get an adapter for my 500mm so I can just sit on the deck and snap pics of the trains.

I have no idea where those pesky trains hide, but they sure are good at it! Back in the summer I went down to the tunnel to capture a few trains. One came through as I was walking down and I didn't have the camera out. I sat on the bridge for 45 mins waiting for the next one, that had a green light, but it just wouldn't come out of hiding.

And now, because it's dark out, there are back to back freights moving through. One went by 5 minutes ago and there is another one building up speed to come off of the siding.

All theme parked out. Work Social Club visits a theme park each year for the Christmas Party. This year it was Movie World. Quite a few rides were closed so we were lucky to spend 4hrs there.

Now have half of a Sunday arvo to chill out.

Your Christmas party was in the first week of November?! Isn't that a little early?

To beat the Christmas rush! Seriously, the major theme parks on the Gold Coast go crazy at Christmas. Crowds weren't too bad today.

A few years back we used to do them in September, before the storm season starts in October to allow those on call to attend without the worry of a emergency call out dragging them away.
