I was there Friday afternoon until about noon today (Sunday). The sky changed drastically by the minute. When I arrived in Tehachapi it was overcast and drizzling. About an hour later it was snowing very heavily, but the ground wasn't frozen so it wasn't sticking. Might as well have just been raining instead. Then, Saturday morning I headed northwest to the loop. In the 12 hours since that heavy snow/rain/drizzle, even the dirt roads had dried up well enough to drive on and for a while the skies turned into what you see in that photo I posted.

Later Saturday evening the rain/drizzle/snow started up again. When I woke up this morning at 3am and looked out the window I couldn't even see across the street, it was so hazy and wet outside. I figured the rest of the day was shot and I might as well just head home. But, there was no hurry, so I went back to bed.

But, by checkout time I figured, "Screw that! I have to give it one more try..." I drove back to the loop. It was very overcast with occasional light rain, windy as all heck and freakin' COLD! And, the wind wasn't helping me stay warm... It felt like it was going to start snowing heavily again any second. I stayed long enough to see that one train go through the loop, then I headed on back home!

Im not sure where around NYC to get train shots like you all get. Subway, Metro North, and long island railroad is all i have

Tough when most of the rail traffic is subterranean.

Hoboken is probably the closest spot.
