Rual Metro already knows about me... had something to do with chasing a tiny little flower that had blown onto the highway... but it was soooo puurrrty and I couldn't resist the way it had settled into that crack in the middle of the road..... So I went to photograph it in the traffic.... caused a bit of ground turblance and distrupted the afternoon drive home for most people....

Oh, I wanna hear all about this story! Don't leave any details out...

Beer's in the fridge. Sorry, I don't have any wine here, but there's a liquor store just down the street...

Ok, I'm settled in and ready for story time. Whenever you're ready, Kristy... ;)

There's a handful of unpopped kernels in the bottom of the bag. You're welcome to 'em.

Hawk, like many other British designs, uses primacord on the canopy to blow a hole through rather than try jettisoning the whole thing. You can see it at around 20 sec. into this video (external link).

See Wikipedia (external link) for more details.

A-6's used a spike on top of the Martin Baker seat to shatter the canopy and eject you through it.

Stuff does happen. Witness this 1991 partial ejection out of an A-6 (external link). The guy lived to tell about it.

FlyingPhotog wrote in post #13371485 (external link)
However, if the system weren't completely or properly armed (and the seat simply malfunctioned) I wonder if the canopy breaker would even fire?

Ugh, forget I even thought of this.

Try an ejection seat firing on the hanger deck of a carrier while a mechanic is working on it. That was a really bad day for that mechanic. :(

Over the years, I suspect that ejection seat mishaps on the ground have killed as many people as they have saved.
