The tires on the bikes in their photos don't look nearly as big as the ones on the page Wool linked to.

Wool's link made me think of the Harley Davidson Fat Boy because it had a similar look. Big, huge, fat (car) tires on a motorcycle. But, Harley screwed things up even more by making the wheel solid instead of spoked. The solid wheel didn't let air pass through and Fat Boy riders were occasionally getting blown off the road (literally) whenever a car or truck passed by them at high speed.

Yup i only posted it due to the same brand being used but def the ones Dan linked to are massive.

I chuckled when you mentioned them getting blown off the road  You would think harley would have tested for cross winds.

The Alaska to Argentina guys are using the same tires I use....Kenda Small Block Eights. Definitely not as big as the ones in the link....the ones in the link are on 26" wheels and have nearly the same rolling diameter as my 29s. I am thinking I wouldn't want to have to buy one of those tires.

Were these from the original air to air shoot?

Interesting how these things take on a life of their own. I'm wondering if half the "facts" in this case were fabricated by some reporter just to enhance ratings.

I'm wondering the same thing John. Either way it's a very sad business.

Even though it was raining, there was a good turnout for the Veteran's Day parade in Petaluma today.

Thought this guys "vintage" film/video gear was interesting....

Was he really rolling 16mm film?

Re: Penn State

You have to understand the monolithic nature of major college athletics.

The number may have moved some over the last few years but at one point, Football at the University of Michigan funded nearly 90% of the entire athletic department budget. That's the entire budget for like 14 Men's sports and 11 Women's sports. Gear, travel, facilities and scholarships.

So I'm not surprised in the least that there has been systematic institutional ignorance regarding the dark history of Penn State football.

No, I don't think he was shooting film, but he was making a good show of it.

All you have to do is sit in the Big House in Ann Arbor with 100,000 other fans and you understand it very quickly. The reports say the Penn was taking in $50million a year from football. The Huskies just started a $250 million rebuild of their stadium. It's serious money, but no excuse for what may have happened. It'll be interesting to see what the NCAA does when the dust settles.

I understand what you both mean. I worked for nine years for the police department at San Diego State University, first in parking enforcement and then communications. I experienced the big football mentality first hand, especially in parking enforcement.

There were always a number of parking citations incurred by the players, coaches and alumni boosters (the worst offenders) that were forgiven before they ever reached the court system.
