Our middle son started playing for the select club's Academy team this Fall. This is definitely a step up from SAY. Although his team didn't pull out a win, they played rather well. Here are a few from the game. His team is the green team.

These were shot with MkIIn/300 2.8 and MkII and 70-200 2.8 IS. EXIF is intact. I shot Av mode w/ +1/3 -- +2/3 EC. It would be cloudy and all of a sudden, the sun would pop out. C&C is always welcome.

The action is pretty good for a bunch of little snappers but most appear either oversharpened or soft, especially six as that one should be a throw-away.

The only post done on the first 5 is resizing to 1024. Look at the comment on #6. Ones like this do get deleted, but it was such a hard collision (and our son) that I posted it. That one did not make it to the online galleries (hence not getting a 4 star rating).

Great expressions. Yes, #6 is OOF, but you captured the moment. Good Job.

Please don't take offense but most viewers, and especially editors, aren't really concerned about your son taking a hard hit and bouncing back up. It was a nice capture but the image was bad in terms of quality.

they dont look quite as sharp. maybe just the harsh sunlight has an effect on the images. or your processed them too hard and lost the quality. or the more likely is my cheap monitor and the fact that we are looking at low res samples rather than the full size

either way great set of action shots. im guessing you pretty much had to kneel/sit on the ground the whole time to get on their level. does that make shooting harder? i like to be able to walk around while im shooting at my college i dont think i would be able to stay kneeling for a long time before i get antsy and want to move around to change my angle on the action.

I didn't take offense. I was just explaining why I posted it. That shot would get deleted 99.999% of the time. I was proud of him for taking the hit.
