So last night I was hanging out at a buddy's house and had my 7D/35L in the car. 1am rolls along and we had nothing to do. Conversation led to another and I ended up shooting with Zeiss glass. 50 f/2 planar-makro, 100 planar-makro, and a 21 distagon 2.8(?)

Anyways, I'm completely blown away by the Zeiss glass, sharpness, color, POP. holy crap. This was all on my 7D @ higher ISO indoors. I can only imagine what it would do on my 5Dmk2.

Kinda numbed me a bit since it ruined the excitement of receiving 2 new lenses today. My Canon lens collection is complete with zooms and the primes I want. Now I think I'm going to have to sell some unwanted lens and possibly my 1d2 to pick up one of the Zeiss (can only afford one $$$$ >=( )

Was kind of scared of MF-ing but the rings on the Z glass feel so much better than my canons'.

My 35L wideopen shot. Pretty good imo. One of my favorite lenses on all my bodies.

The car pics show my main gripe with the 100MP, axial chromatic aberration. Stopping down to f4 helps but I guess I really should get the Voigtlander 125. :)

I can't see what you're seeing in those images I'm afraid. Also, the CA on the wheel nut is pretty bad. Maybe the RAW files are better, but don't get wrapped up in all the hype over Zeiss.

right, I'm also not "blown away" with the 7D example pics but if you think it's great that's good

Not to be rude or anything but I'm not sure why you're so blown away on zeiss from those examples. I'm sure the Zeiss lenses listed above are wonderful and that these pics don't really represent what the lens is capable of.

Just wanted to note that I've shot with the ZE 21mm Distagon and it was a joy to use. Fantastic landscape lens.

I'm with the others unfortunately, I don't see anything mind blowing at all from those shots... In fact, I'd probably not be able to tell them apart from shots taken with something along the lines of a kit lens.

yes, I think the OP got caught up in all the hype. But Zeiss does look a lot better with full frame models - which is what it's designed to do

good to see OP's excitement .... there are some wonderful examples of pictures taken w/ Zeiss in the lens archives

PS it's hard to find too many primes that don't have CA wide open :p

There are many examples on these forums of some of that magic something extra that Zeiss glass is capable of but for me I realize that it is not guaranteed in every shot. The thing that is guaranteed is MF every single shot. I could easily see not worrying about that much with the 21mm though. If I had the extra money and all the lenses that I needed I would not mind trying one.

I'm patiently waiting for another true APO to be made in the range. The Leica 90 calls to me somedays.
