Just got back from our Alaskan Cruise. We saw (according to the naturalist on board) the largest calving of the year in Glacier Bay. Best of all, I saw it through the viewfinder on my 5dmkII!
Any comments or critiques appreciated.

Sep 19, 2011 02:52 | #4 Thanks, guys. The cruise was awesome. Glacier Bay was great, but every day was one spectacular vista after another. I'm sorting through about 2,400 pictures that the wife and I took. I'm glad I wasn't still shooting film! "Everything will be alright. I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

It's always difficult to get the scale of the glaciers from a photo, but I can imagine that this was one big chunk of ice! Photography by Erin Babnik

Sep 21, 2011 05:20 | #6 According to the park ranger, it was about 8 stories high. The captain had to thrust away from the glacier after this to prevent damage to the ship. "Everything will be alright. I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
