Just got back from our Alaskan Cruise. We saw (according to the naturalist on board) the largest calving of the year in Glacier Bay. Best of all, I saw it through the viewfinder on my 5dmkII!

Any comments or critiques appreciated.

Cool shot. I've heard such great things about the Alaska cruises. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, guys. The cruise was awesome. Glacier Bay was great, but every day was one spectacular vista after another. I'm sorting through about 2,400 pictures that the wife and I took. I'm glad I wasn't still shooting film!

Very nice timing and composition! It's always difficult to get the scale of the glaciers from a photo, but I can imagine that this was one big chunk of ice!

According to the park ranger, it was about 8 stories high. The captain had to thrust away from the glacier after this to prevent damage to the ship.

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone.
