How does this work? Is it open to the public or do you need an invite? If you need an invite, what is the channel to get get one?

But hey, let's speculate. What if they have something completely new up their sleeve? What could that be? 3D fits the bill. Or a camera that can shoot at multiple focus points simultaneously that you can choose your focus and DOF later. Something with dynamic range much greater than anything available at the moment, etc. What other off the wall stuff could there be that isn't just an upgrade of existing equipment?

Canon 7D and a bunch of other stuff

Expanded DR would probably be the most welcome improvement (at least for some people.)

4K resolution camera with PL & EF mount. This would be in response to Sony's F65 CineAlta (external link) 4K camera now available for a paltry $65000

Agreed ^. Back in September of last year i went to the canon expo here in NYC. They had this 4k prototype on display. The video it was producing was amazing. We dubbed it the hair-blower

They just announced the 1Dx for action/event photographers.

I'm hoping it's a 5D3 for landscape/studio photographers - would be the perfect combination!

I hope its a high MP 5D3 suited toward studio/cinema and a 35mm RAW-esque video camera. By raw-esque I mean robust color sampling codec (as no camera truly shoots "raw" including arri and red...)

I would *love* for it to be a 5d Mark III, but I think that would be too much to hope for. It would hurt sales of their newly announced flagship.

Instead, I will guess-hope for a new L to be announced next week to compliment the 1ds-x they've just trumpeted.

I doubt it would hurt sales of the 1Dx - the two cameras have completely different purposes. Even if a 5D3 (with any sort of reasonable specs) were the same price as the 1Dx, I couldn't see myself buying the 1Dx - just doesn't suit my purposes.
