As the title asks, are there preferences for a brand for a circular polarizer filter? If so, what makes one better than the other? Glass, coating, durability....?

Read this article from LensTip. I use the Marumi Super DHG and I am very pleased with the results and especially the price.

Just picked up a B+W Kaesemann and I love it. Colors are great. IQ is amazing.

My favorite is no filter. IQ is without compromise, and I've never had a filter protect actually be able to protect a lens (other than for weather-sealing purposes, of course). Now, if you are talking about a filter without glass just to strengthen the filter mount, then I'm all for it!

I prefer B&W MRC for being low on flare and easy to clean.

Who is talking about protection here. We are discussing polarization. Stick with the program or move on.
