I already have a LEE 77 WA ring but would like to get another to put on my soon to be purchased 70-200 2.8 . Can anyone confirm what focal range the non wide ring will serve? There is a dramatic difference in the price of the wide and non wide ring.

For the 70-200 all you need is the regular ring. Just make sure you can tell the two apart if you're planning to have both mounted on the appropriate lenses. If you don't plan to be swapping the Lee system between cameras or lenses very often, then just stick with what you have.

I wouldn't bother with the standard ring...since you already have the WA ring, simply use that (its what I do...I have a standard ring but never use it). I doubt having the gradient line a scant few mm closer to the lens will make it any more difficult to see the line when framing the shot...using the DOF preview button will help with that.

I will say though that you need to be a bit discerning with the type of gradient that you use with a telephoto lens. Generally speaking, the longer focal length will tend to soften the gradient, making a hard grad filter more useful at longer (~200mm) focal lengths.
