Help. My friend has a G10 that is two years old. It will not turn on. I have tried two separate fully charged batteries in it and nothing, nada! It just will not turn itself on! Any suggestions? Or is it time to have her upgrade to a G12? I suspect the Canon Service Center charge to look at this is at least half of the price of a new G12?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Jim, as you already know I'm of little help around here, but my 2 cents, keep in mind the Canon Loyalty Program which might throw your friend some sort of bone. Good luck!

I 2nd that -- they fixed my G9 nicely.

So, take out your battery and remove your SD Card. Make sure you have a fully charged battery, and insert it again. Next, turn the camera on in Play mode. Of course 'no card', so turn it off and insert a Card. Again try the Play mode 'turn-on' first. See what happens from there.

If that fails to change the situation, REMOVE the battery. Rotate the camera around various Axes -- listen closely for any rattle on internal noise. Some G10's have reported the same 'screw loose' problem that G7's and G9's have experienced. That is what the above company fixed for me. Satisfied customer with them... not so satisfied with Canon Service's response.

Nate,

Awesome! I sent this to my friend and advised her to give them a call.

Thanks for the quick response and a good path to a solution. I'll report back if she tries this company.

Thanks, Carlo for the feedback...I have recommended this site to my friend.
