Hello,
Is there some place you can buy older software like CS2? I enjoy doing B&W images and CS2 had 3 or 4 quads that I used to give my images a selenium tone. I'm trying to find out the formula for the purple quads CS2 had to see if I can duplicate it in another software program simply because I don't have CS2 any more. Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried Photoshop Elements? I'd imagine that it would have very similar capabilities.

As for CS2, well, I'd tend to be leery of trying to pick up a second-hand package via the Internet, due to the strong possibility of paying for a package that someone may not be using, but they may have updated, using the serial #, which means that what they pass off to you would not be legit.

Another alternative is to shoot in Raw, and use the Canon Raw software Digital Photo Professional (DPP) to set the Picture Style to Monochrome and then play with the various settings. Raw gives you the freedom to play around with such things, and DPP has the convenience of starting with your in-camera settings, but with Raw allowing you to switch things around freely.

Of course if you are shooting Raw other Raw processors give you that ability as well, since a B&W/Monochrome shot is simply the Raw data, the same as has been used for a full RGB color jpeg, but the data has been processed to desaturate color tones and then to apply whatever "effects"/tones you wish (e.g. Sepia).

I recently bought Topaz B&W plug-in and while it is nice it doesn't allow for subtle refinements that I was able to do with CS2. The only thing I am left with is to find someone with a copy of CS2 so I can get a screenshot of the purple quadsets to see the curve of each color as well as the numerical values. Then hopefully I can use another program to give me a similar result.

I have no magenta quadtone presets. There are a few magenta duotone presets however:

I don't think they changed much (if at all) between PSCS4 and PSCS5. So you could just DL the trial of PSCS5.

I am using Topaz with PSP X2 but they have a different method of adjusting their presets in relation to the image.
Rene, the preset I was using was either a Tritone or a Quadtone and it had purple as it's first color and then a tan I think and maybe a yellow( I'm not sure). I know I could find it but don't have access to it any more, unfortunately.
