I find having the 100 L Macro quite handy. The shot below was taken with mine.

Only take two lenses to any wedding now the 24-70 and the 100L 2.8. It's light, has IS and very versatile.

I breifly tried a friend's Canon 50mm compact macro. That's a great lens! I would have probably gotten that instead if I tried it before I bought the 60. Most ring shots are nowhere near 1:1, so the 50mm 1:2 ratio would be more than adequate. The bonus is, it's wide! You could get some seriously unique macro ring shots with such a wide perspective. Environmental macros? Sounds awesome! And the bonus is that it's super cheap and super small. It's about as small as the set of three kenko extension tubes.

I've had this lens for a couple of years and found it maddening. It's a dog for focusing and whilst it is sharp I never liked the colour.

I have just sold it and bought the 100L macro

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing, but I cannot go without the 50L as well.

I think taking a 50L would be ok. To be honest I am thinking of adding the 50L myself.
