I once shot a Dr. Evil action figure with an ungelled strobe in front, well off to the right like 45 degrees, and then one in the back left gelled green to add some green "kicker". I shot him on white posterboard keeping just close enough to blast it with the front light, but not so close that I caught his shadow on it. This made it easier to remove in post. I then shot a separate image of a glitter-light thing (like a lava lamp but with glitter instead of "lava")> i lit it from behind with the same green gell and lit it from the front with the light in the same position as I used for the Dr. Evil shot. Once I put it together you can't tell that I only used two lights! Viola! Rainy-day-boredom-blues gone! You will find no more zen at the top of a mountain, than the zen that you bring there with you.

When I left home for college in '69, and never moved back, well, whatever toy soldiers that were in whatever drawer, well, got tossed out during some round of Spring Cleaning. What I really got pangs about after a bunch of years was the fact that my stack of baseball cards collected over the years got thrown out as well! I believe the Micky Mantle one alone is worth, well, a buch of money! Tony

Just being nosy I guess but it could offer some inspiration.

I'm finding that I kinda agree with Gene when he says that ya don't have to shoot every day. I'm using that time to surf for learning different techniques and the fine art methods of photography. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.

If the subject is not worth being a wall hanger, it's not worth my time. Ditto! Tim Kerr

What I was hoping to get (and did) was ideas - things to do on those days when you really want to shoot something but have no idea what. Well, I've been in a "slump" as far as getting out with my camera, but I have them nearby and ready for some kind of interesting opportunity. One thing that comes up periodically is some insect "activity" out on my deck. A couple days ago a spider was "hanging around". I had done some macro shots of it previously, but this day I had been inspired by a POTN thread to try "focus stacking" for the first, time, and got some good results! Tony
