I have tried a google search for making the black bars on photos and have not had success.

What is an easy way to make the black bars? I have Lr, NIK, and PS Elements.

Any Free software that is easy??

Thanks ~

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

This one would work in certain situations but it is difficult on the image I tried because it is still semi-opaque , even after using the brush.

Still looking - but thanks because the Lr option above, will work sometimes I'm sure.

I understand the interest in letterboxing, and the frustration from it not coming easy with LR. But for me it's overkill. I don't require those cues for it to read cinematically. The most important thing is to achieve a familiar cinematic aspect ratio. Sometimes the letterboxing makes me feel like the photographer is screaming at me, "no, you don't get it. You don't get it. It's like a movie. See? See?". Sometimes.

I hear ya. I just went through all the frames, etc, found in NIK Analog 2 and I am pleased with them, if/when I want a frame. And, sometimes I can use Lightroom.

yeah in the end , the black bars dont really matter..

its not like i look at pics here and think "pffft yeah but wheres the black bars:rolleyes:"

some times some pictures i take also , cant be cropped in that way ,, or they lose something .

however , when i can, i do like to use them, i do think it somehow completes the look? .. i dont know if thats the right word , but it helps me imagine like its a movie thats been paused .. again, thats just for my images, my

anyway right now i use photoshop cc..
but before i had photoshop , i did my color editing in LR then when it was all finished i'd just take it over to windows Paint and add the black bars there.. it works
