So here are some of my first attempts at shooting insects at the macro level. I rarely shoot macro because I dont actually own a lens for it but I do own a set of cheap $8 extension tubes. Locked my 70-200 f/4L to f/11 and went at it.
My setup was a 5d Mkii with a 70-200 f/4L fitted to 3 stacked tubes(unsure of sizes) and a 430 EXII off camera triggered by Cactus V. One shot was direct flash from above and to the right of the camera and the rest were bounced off of a sheet of paper in various directions.
Would love to hear critique and advice! I am also looking for an ID on this critter. I know absolutely nothing about spiders but the little research I have done today has shown me that this might be a "Broad-Faced Sac Spider" (Trachelas tranquillus). I was surprised to find fangs on him honestly!
Warning: the spider WAS harmed in the making of this set! He went into a bath of rubbing alcohol prior to the shoot.
Thanks for looking!
