for handling raw files on a Mac....try Aperture, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements (version 10 was announced this week).

No, not handling. All the handling is done on Windows. All I am looking for is the viewing software for the raw files on the Mac after they have been processed by the Lightroom on the Windows.

The Windows desktop is at the other end of the house from the TV and the Mac laptop (which are connected by the cable). And I do not like using wireless network between the desktop and the laptop - too slow for huge 12-15MB raw files, even at 300Mps connection.

If you want to view the processed images on the Mac, then you will have to either have Lightroom on the Mac and then have a way of getting a catalog back and forth or save metadata and transfer it over the network.

Otherwise you'll need to Export viewable images from the PC/Lightroom that you can then transfer to the Mac or view via the network. 'Course, these will likely be jpegs, so a smaller file size.

Now I got the idea. Thanks. So I may still keep the jpegs.

In the days of film, I shot my negatives, then interpreted each negative in the different manners in which I printed it...I might dodge and burn in and choose different surfaces of paper and different contrast paper, and I might tone the print. One does not throw away either the negative or the print.

There is a direct analogy today...

In the days of digital, I shoot my RAW, then interpret each RAW in the different manners in which I 'print' it in making the JPG...I might dodge and burn in and choose different contrast paper and even change from color to duotone or sepia or other monochrome 'tone'. One does not throw away either the negative 'RAW' or the print 'JPG'

Two stylings of same shot...
