I've had my last day of neck burn from the Canon strap. Can anyone recommend a sling type camera strap with sturdy connectors for a gripped 7D? I've always just used the basic Canon strap, so I have no idea whats good.

Comfort is most important, but I'm 6'1 and I'd like it long enough to hang by my waist. Any suggestions?

Op/Tech Pro Loop Strap and get the POTN one from the shop here. Most comfortable neck strap I have ever used. And yes, the Canon one is terrible.

I've gotten positive reviews from my friend about his Custom SLR glide strap. (external link). He carries around a gripped 7D with a 24-105L and says he sometimes forgets that his camera is there because it's so light and comfortable. Good enough to win best camera strap (external link) in Advanced Photographer Magazine too.

I got one of Black Quick Rapid Camera Sling Strap (external link) and use it on my 7D+grip+500mm and find it excellent - cheap, cheerful but very effective!

If it moves, snap it - and if it doesn't move, snap it twice just in case it does move!

crumpler is really really awesome...only gripe I have is that I can't get it off the camera quickly when I want to shoot landscape and its windy. :(

thanks for info guys, I'll do some research on these models. I shoot quite a bit in portrait mode and I've read about issues with the sling straps while rotating the camera so a good solution for this will be important.

Stone.
Just switched out my old Canon 7D strap to the new Black Rapid RS-Sport.
I can carry my 7D Gripped with a 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II with ease. Very comfortable, functional.

Super happy with my Optech sling lugging a ten pound outfit on hikes.
