I just recently purchased my first 1d body. The Mk II N. Love the feel, the look and quality of the camera. I know this is an older body but for 700 bucks and in pristine condition, I figured I couldn't go wrong. I was honestly in the market for a Mk III or Mk IV, BUT the price range was a little high for me at the moment with a new baby. I mainly shoot wildlife/landscape and sports photos. I'm trying to push my way into sports photography as a profession, but anyway, I won't digress.
The Mk II N is a great camera. Love the 8.5 fps for sports and fast moving wildlife. The images are crisp. The ONLY downside so far is the focusing and low ISO range. In low light, this camera is very slow. I know, I should have opted for the higher ISO models but again, the price range is out of my reach for now. My other body, the 7d is great in low light. When I switched from the MK II N on my 400 2.8 to the 7d I noticed a clear difference in focusing and freezing action. Of course the ISO capabilities on the 7d are a little higher than the II N.
Overall, a great camera and a solid piece of equipment for moving up to the professional grade (1d) series cameras.
Does anyone else in here use this model for sports photography? What about in low light situations?
